4w lock issue
Hello to all. If this post has already been answered please point me to it. I did do some searching but did not find the answer. I have an 2006 H3. The local garage just replaced the factory plasitc shift fork with a metal one. One of the tabs was broken on the plastic one. However it still goes into the lock position, with the control in non lock position. How in the world can that be? Bum shift fork from the box? The local garage is baffeled as so am I. Has this happened to anyone else or anyone else heard of such a thing? I thank you for any information that may point me in the right direction.

new kid, I get $120hr to diagnose. I can save you a lot to diagnose if you give more information on any other past or current issues? Mods that were performed?, etc???.... It's easier for me when I see the vehicle.
Btw, I still have the plastic shift fork and I have never had a problem!

Every thing is possible. Do you have any ideas? possible causes or items to check? Some how it goes into lock without pushing the button.

I can't. I'm 100 miles just to get to the PA state line. Consider my cost in gas alone, round trip+ add all those miles I would have to drive across PA to get to you, and back to O-H-I-O.
Just try disconnecting the switch and let me know how that works for you.

I will try disconnecting the switch and report back. Thank you for the advice.
