Default Is it in 4 Wheel hi lock?

Being that this is my first H2 and I have not yet since buying it had a chance to really test out the four-wheel-drive hi lock mode, I came across an interesting situation today in Cincinnati. I was going to have to drive through a 10 inch high snowed in parking lot that had a very slight incline. Before going across the parking lot I had stopped the car and with the right side tires in the snow and the left ones on drive pavement I pressed the four hi lock button and the light stop flashing and remain solid. Giving her a little bit of gas it seemed that either the right side tires or just the right rear tire was spinning. Couldn't verify it as I was the only person in the vehicle. Owning real jeeps for the last 25 years this is a foreign occurrence to me and having my only hummer experience being in a Humvee this is also a very odd experience. Shifting into four wheel lock low I hear the typical clunk when it engages and it seems to be fine. Maybe this is only driver perception but with two of the four tires on pavement and one or two that were in the snow got the spinning something tells me that this isn't correct although all indications in the cockpit are telling me they are. I wasn't stuck as the hummer moved in reverse and forward but it definitely did not have the typical four wheel lock characteristics that I am used to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you for dealing with an H2 newbie!

For my understanding...
4 hi is 60/40 rear/front split
4 hi locked is 50/50 split

I could be wrong tho. But even when I go offroading in deep mud. I keep it in normal 4 hi til I get stuck.

Yeah 4 hi locked does NOT lock the left and right together. It locks the front and back together.
So I think it's normal that you had slippage in the snow. It's trying to find traction.
But like i said, 4 hi open is sufficient for 90% of the time
