315 or 305 nitto terra's
I just cranked the torsion bars up to 23 3/4" and want to buy new tires on my 16" rims. Will the 315 kill my MPG, I have read on other posts that the 305's won't change mpg compared to the stock 285's. How about 315 75 16's?

I got 305/70/16's and am very pleased with them! 315/75 's would have been cool, but I got such a sweet deal on my 305/70's I can't complain. Follow the link to pics... https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/a...hp?albumid=687

I have 315, and have noticed only minor MPG difference (1.5-2 MPG) and that is with MTZ's. The bad thing with the 315's is when offroading I find myself burrying the front wheels in the fender wells. During regular driving the tires also rub at full lock, which a spacer will prob fix, but I don't like spacers, so I just turn gently. The 305 will definantly be better for clearance, but 315 fill the wheel well nicer.

Honestly, a 295/75/16 would be a good size to have(equals 33.5"). It isn't a real popular size so there aren't a ton of choices, but it's kind of a happy medium between a 285/75 and 315/75. I went with the 305/70 because I wanted a wider tire, but the 295 is taller by half an inch. I know they make BFG, General Grabber's and Terra Grapplers in 295/75's. May be something to toss around.

I'm happy with my 295s. I wanted a little more width at first, but I'm happy with it now. They don't stick out very much, but they also don't trash the side of my vehicle every time I get it out of the garage. Just depends on what you want I guess.
