Default 3.5 i5 versus 3.7 i5

Hello everybody-

I am new to the forum and I am about to buy a used Black H3 Luxury. I have to admit the 3.5 is pretty underpowered. I have not driven the 07, and I am just wondering if I should rule out an 06???

My gut tells me to spend a little more money and get the 07

What is everyone's thought? I have also restricted my possibilities, because I would like Nav also... So I will have to travel to buy vehicle...

Well it seems the sensus here is that the 06 has more problems since it's the first year for the H3. Also 07 is when they upped to the 3.7. I have the nav system and it's no big deal. I ussually use mapquest. I have the monsoon stereo and it kicks but for stock. If ur willing to travel find a color you really like. Oh and as far as power look for 08 Alpha, V8 power. I missed a sweet deal on an 08 alpha sunburst orange for $23,000. I love that color. Instead I settled for the slate blue 07 which is still very nice.
Welcome to the forum. You'll find some very knowledgeable folks here and see some awsome rides.
Good luck with ur H3 search.

Nothing wrong with an 06 in and of itself.

07s have a MUCH better warranty. Really, the 3.7L is not underpowered. You have to keep a couple things in mind for a reality check. These trucks are heavy, and were NOT mabe for speed. Hummers are slow, no ifs ands or butts. The Alphas are no bullets either, but better.

Bone stock at 242 HP and TQ is not bad for a 5 banger, back in the day I had mid 70s 350 small block GM pick ups rated at 165 HP, and I can tell you, the H3 is quicker than they were, and get as good or better mpg. Hard to beat an inline motor for low/mid usable torque, that is what the truck is for, slugging through serious off road obsticles, not 0-60 runs.

Mod the I5s with an intake, PCM tune, and CAT back, you can hang with stock V8 pick ups all day. I have the sand drag pics to prove it.

I think it all depends on your expectations. I have a 2006 with the 3.5L I-5, and I have no problem with it. It's fine around town, even on the highway. The only time I ever feel that I could use a little more grunt is for entering the freeway or for passing, and that is so infrequent that it is not an issue. I've driven the V-8 before, and to me, the difference wasn't that great. It was noticable, but not a big issue. If you find the right car with the 3.5L motor, that alone isn't a reason to avoid it.

I just purchased an 07, and am happy with it, and the more we get into the 09 year , the more 07's will be returned off lease and available on the market

GREAT! Nice tone, and if you have to nail it when passing, she screams!

I stopped at the beer store over the weekend and parked next to a KIA ...
When I started my 3 the KIA's alarm chirped a warning, so when I pulled away I pushed on the long pedal a little harder than normal, and the alarm was tripped. I chuckled.
