So I've had my h3 for about 2weeks now.. It's a 2008. 3.7 i5. 177,000 miles.


I've driven it daily, and haven't had a single issue. I'm really starting to like the car.

Now it has been raining all day. I haven't driven the car until last night. I went outside and noticed my driver side floorboard is soaked. I think it's leaking from the roof lights (3 of them seem to have been knocked off). Anyways, floor has a puddle of water and I can see water dripping from the corner (left front corner).



I go to start the car.... I turn key, everything turns on like normal, I go to crank it and nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. I can head the ignition switch click once, and I think I can hear starter click once. CEL and security light stays on...


I've tried everything.. Disconnecting battery for a minute, jumping it off, letting it sit for 10... I just don't know what to do... I can't afford to take to dealer..

 

I'm not sure if the rain and water has anything to do with it

 

I'd venture to say water has a lot to do with it. Your bcm is located near the front passenger kick panel. Water intrusion could surely mess that up.

I'd do whatever it takes to eliminate all water leaks. Do you have a moonroof as well? The drain tubes are known to clog/leak.

Finally got it to start after leaving key in ignition for 10 minutes.
Everything is fine



Now where to go from here

 

Need some help.. I can't get it to start back now.


Passlock light is blinking... Then goes solid.. Then goes off. I've gotten it to crank once, by waiting until the light goes off completely. Then turn key to off without taking it out. Wait 5 seconds, turn it to on, wait 5 seconds. Then it will start.



I really need some help on this one...

 

Sun roof?

Wet BCM is a solid possibility, or just another GM Passlock issue, which can be a dad ignition switch.... they get goobered up after a while and have a voltage glitch.

 

Let's start at the beginning:

You say the 3 roof lights look like they have been knocked off. Are just the lenses missing or the whole light panel? Are there threaded inserts showing on the roof?
That could be the source of the leak.

Do you still have the original battery post clamps? If they have not been replaced then DO IT, replace them with a good quality clamp. Those crappy connectors are the cause of a LOT of electrical issues.

Fix the leak and change those clamps before you start replacing anything else.

 

I went and bought some terminals today.. Haven't put them on yet.


I also got a new key made for 2$... Hummer started right up. I turned it off and waited a minute. I then put new key in, and it wouldn't turn. So I put old key in and it starts every time now..

 

I advise start all over with the yellow top Optimum Battery.
