Default 2008 diesel conversion

Hey there my fellow hummer lovers! I want to thank yall for helping me in the past, and possibly with this subject. I have a 2008 H2 6.2 with 160,000 miles. I just this month put in a GM remanufactured 6L80 trans. The engine still runs great. However I had a buddy tell me that he heard there is a GM turbo diesel engine that could be easily swapped into my vehicle. Please if anyone has any information good or bad on this subject please feel free to comment. I do a decent amount of light towing (@1,500 pounds) and would prefer a turbo diesel to gas for other reasons as well. Thank you all have a great day and VIVA HUMMER!

I remember someone in this forum did the swap a few months ago.
He got a Duramax from a 2500
I can't remember who was but if you use the search possible the thread will pop up
Good luck.

I contacted Predator about a conversion on a 2005 H2 and I can’t remember the cost but I believe it was 500 hp for 28K? I was going to go see their shop and look at what they had to offer. Their website tells you what they have for your Model Year. Duraburb no longer does Hummer conversions. You tube has lots of videos available. I think it would be overwhelming to do it on your own and finish it. Turn key CARB certification and 500 hp for 28K seems like the way to go if that’s what you have to have. Good luck

"Easily swapped"...... not quite. Doable, absolutely but its not exactly an easy or very low cost swap like replacing your engine with the same one. Major electrical differences as well as the Duramax's are designed to be paired with an Allison transmission and a different transfer case.

Look here - this is very recent.
