I have a 2007 Hummer H3 5 cylinder that I am having issues with, the battery died and I took battery out took it to auto zone, auto zone gave me a new battery as it was still under warranty took the battery back to my truck hooked it back up and tried to start it and it tries to start as in the trucks starter turns over but the car will not start, the red symbol with the car with a lock through it has begun to flash every time I attempt to start it but the car will not try to start at all, from what I have read from searching if the padlock system is preventing the car from starting the vehicle will start then immediately die but with my truck this isn't the case, I have tried unhooking and hooking the battery back up, cycling the power locks with the remote and key and touching the negative and positive battery cables together without the battery in the car to attempt to reset the eco under the suggestion of a mechanic friend that works at Firestone. Out of 50 or so attempts to start it the vehicle only once attempted to turn over but then immediately died. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as my vehicle is still stuck at my workplace.

My 06 wouldn't start 50% of the time due to Passlock this past winter. I bought a new ignition switch but only replaced the black plastic piece. Apparently that's one of the three common components to cause issues with Passlock. It's very easy to do, YouTube it. Zero issues ever since.
