Default 2006 window controls

Will a door panel from a later h3 (with the more ergonomic controls) fit onto my 2006 door? Are the wire harnesses different?

Thanks for any info!

Yes to the door panel, and yes the harness is different, can't remember if the plug on the switch panel is the same.

Doc,

Would be something that you could simply cut the 06 plug(s) of and solder the 07-09 plugs in to work with the 07-09 for panel and switch?

If so, that would be a handy and easy backyard upgrade.

Probably a stupid question but could you just use the handle instead of the whole panel? The handle is where the controls are isn't it? Or is the mounting too different?

I think the handle is a part of the panel, not removeable......?

I think that is exactly what you have to do. Somebody somewhere did this and I believe that is the only minor snag. The harness for the 06 and early 07s that had the poorly located controls is shorter, but that would be taken care of with the plug swap.

Yes, basically all one molded piece.
