Default 2006 H3 Stuck in Park

Hey!
Just went out to start the car and the shifter is stuck in park..

Car will start as normal, i just cant engage the side button on the shifter and shift.

Searched for a while but can only find threads linking to a a shifter issue on the H2
Any tips or links to solutions will be a big help.

With regards
Fogell

Might be of importance.
Its is parked towards a curb, is it possible that the car has inched down from the curb and by that locked the transmission into park?

check your brake lights ? do they light up when pressing brakes?

if not then it's the brake light switch , i can't help on how to fix this but it must be easy task

good luck

no it's not because of that

that would make it harder to get out of park but not impossible

you said that you can't push the button

then it's interlock issue but most likely from brake switch not the solenoid hopefully

there is instructions on how to get it out of park in my 2013 camaro(it's 6-speed manual) but the book lists automatic informtation too

try to look up in your book mine is used car and book is missing

eitherway get it fixed

best ultimate fix is kill the solenoid so you can shift with no batt,no keys no nuttin, like if you're on the rr tracks,,, i did mine and its nice, just like old carz!

do you happen to have a DIY instructions for this?

is the shiftlock mechanical and electrical? any cable going to the ignition

on 2005 traipblazer using the same setup there is slight pulse while pushing shifter button that pulse felt in the key all of this without pushing brakes in( too complicated i know i don't remember the exact scenareo)

And a sidenote, i`ve seen the term rr tracks here and there when searching about the issue. What does it mean?

I blame not knowing by me being swedish!

rr = Rail Road !!,waiting for a train!

i pulled the trim over the shifter and removed the spring on the solenoid and taped it so it cant move, years ago so no pictures and dont remember details. be carefull to follow book instructions pulling trim.

its nice to not mess with keys and brakes just to drift down the driveway!
