My 2006 H3 radio does not seem to have satellite. I cycle the band button thru and only get fm1, fm2, and am. I have read that I can add a SIR-GM1 to give me Sirius satellite. It seems real simple. Prior to purchasing anything new I got my hands dirty by tearing out the stock head unit. While it was out I noticed a Motorola box behind the radio. It has several wire ports (J1, J2, J3, J4) J1 & J2 are used. J3 & J4 are not used. There is also what appears to be an antenna input that is used and a GPS port that is used. My truck does not have GPS.

Can anyone explain to me what this box is? Could it be a satellite receiver?

I am curious about this also. This is the silver box mounted proximal to the floor? Would be nice if it was that simple, right?

I entered my VIN on that web page and it says that it couldn't find it. Guess I am not set up for xm. I think I am going to try to install a sir-gm1 and see if that works.

 

generally, when they manufacture all of these vehicles, they run all the wires to save money, they just do not put in the hardware needed for XM/Sirius or GPS.
