Default 2003 Hummer H2 Owners - Check Your Fuel Filter!

If you have a 2003 Hummer H2, then you have an external filter on the front side of gas tank.

There is a good chance that your strap has broken, and your filter is dangling by the gas lines. 2003 owners, please check this!!

The strap (GM 88944156), is no longer available. A very easy fix is to cut the damaged side on the bottom so that it's flat and can slide up through the holder, and replace with an AC duct zip-tie.

*Note newer H2s do not have an external filter. Even the "sock" on the fuel pump was on the 2003 and is an old design. All new fuel pumps now have the filter inside the fuel pump itself. However, it is nice in the 2003 to have this extra filter and can still be purchased (GM 88983068)

Good point. I changed my filter on my '03 with a Wix filter. I think I would use a worm drive radiator hose clamp instead of the zip tie.
I think all vehicles should have an external fuel filter, the dealers and auto repair shops would have a good revenue source from replacing filters every 30k miles.
