Not sure how to describe this and its fixed now, so a pic won't domuch.
When I was getting out of my truck (H3) one day I noticed where the plastic moulding coming up on the side of the front windshield joins the rest of the roof rail plastic, there was a crack.It was under the long roof rail system that holds the roof racks and runs the length of the truck. The long piece overlaps the pieces from the front windshield. I would assume they have to come off to mount roof marker lamps or spot light bar. Anyways, in the part that was overlapped there was a crack in mine.
I have not done any off roading or anthing, so it must be a defect.
I took it to the dealer and asked ot have the part ready for next service... they said hows the other side... I said lets check and it was the same thing (good thing they thought to look).
It was covered under warranty, but just a heads up as it took them a few hours to remove and replace.

Yeah...I'm taking mine in for the same thing. GM knows about the crack and most of the Hummer Services Depts are stocking the piece so they can switch them out when necessary. By the way welcome to the forum. If you haven't already...post some pics.

 

I noticed the same thing a few weeks ago, mentioned it to them and they had the parts in stock....changed it on the spot, no hassles.

 

Same problem here!
The dealer changed it but I think they have either a design problem or a quality problem......Well, or both.

 

They did..now these replacement rails are new and improved

When was your build date Mike?..GM was suppose to have them all fixed on production models rolling off the assy lineafter April or May of 2006

 

Just went out and checked mine - it's cracked on the drivers side, passenger look fine.

Not sure of the build date, but I picked it up June or July and it had been sitting for at least a month b4 I took delivery. Probably I got the tail end.
I assume I would check the build date on the door jam? although I think I may have seen it in an invoice or onstar profile or something.
I just hope they used the newer part when replacing and I don't have to go in for it again.
