Wondering does a 2003 H2 have a security key. Mine won't start and the mechanic suspects the key but I remember reading somewhere that someone had a key copied using a generic chevy key instead of the one with the H2 emblem I assumed this meant there was no chip inside am I wrong?

 

No chip, at leas on all that I have owned & worked on even up to 07. I have had generic back ups made & they had worked fine. I have not run into a problem or made a generic key for 07 or later though to know for sure on those.. Jamie

 

My issue ended up being the starter just went out, no warning at all. Started to head into work stopped for gas and boom no more starting. I tried connecting the battery straight to the starter with the ignition on to bypass the pcm and got no response from the starter not even a twitch. I handed it over to a mechanic not telling them anything and 4 hours later they came back to tell me the starter was bad, replaced and all is running smooth again.
