Default RE: 1850 RPM Vibration

haha NOPE! took me 30 days to find it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have traveled every inch of that ****ing thing and checked every bolt I could reach. At one point I had put pipe insulation all the way down the length of the E-brake, fuel line and brake lines. I took allll the skid plates off. I taped every clip as tight as I could to the frame...I even put a video camera under the truck hoping to spot the shaking part. It finally took a 2nd person to bravely reach around in the engine compartment while it was making the god awful noise while I power braked it at 1900 RPM until they burned themselves but also stopped the noise at the same time. It was vibrating so fast and so slight that you couldnt see it with your eye until you touched it and it silenced it. I imagine that it still shakes, just not against something. And I was surprised to find out that what I thought was a nice clean block is actually a textured piece of metal designed to look like an engine. I'll get some pictures sometime but if you tap on the side of the engine under the MAF, youll find that its not the block...just a cover. A hot cover so do it while its had a while to cool.

So I wish I was just a slacker there but I've been messing with this growl 5 nights a week for the last month and I found another strange and obscure part that nobody even knew we had

EDIT: For the record I found it at 6:30pm tonight

DITTO! My growl happens around the 1800 rpm mark then goes away above that mark. It's engine related and not movement. It's been doing that for over two months now. It seems to get worse daily.
Good info guys. Thanks.

You dont have to crawl around..its really a 5 second fix now that we know where it is. Just grab and pull a little. If it still does it, grab and pull again!

turns out the skid plate was loose and the catalytic converter had a screw missing...as soon as i told the service guy i had a vibration @1800 -1900 rpm's he described it to me....must be a known problem....no biggie they gave me a brand new cadillac cts to drive to work...they were done by 5 so one day in and out....i did have them do the 6000 mike service also..98.00 with tax...(oil change and tire rotation, balance)

i will note this.... our H3's drive allot smoother than that CTS....

Just had this same issue but before taking it to the dealership, I searched the forums, and I was missing the nut on the lower attachment for the heat shield. Gotta love www.hummerforums.com. Thanks guys... (and gals)

Just an update for any of you who had this problem...It came back on mine all on its own! I'll have to do some more digging and see if there is a missing part or something that is making it happen. I'll keep you posted!!
