09 H3 Intermittent crank but no start
Hello - I searched but did not find a solution for this. My 09 H3 (5 cyl, bone stock) has an occasional issue - it will crank but it will not start. Not much has been done to the truck recently expect the usual wear and tear items (oil, brakes, battery). Wait for maybe 10 - 30 mins and it will start. Does it warm or cold. Did it once last year, then it was fine but it did it twice recently (2 months apart). Any idea on how to troubleshoot to find root cause? I'm guessing a crank sensor but that is purely a guess.

Thank you for the info. I read through a good amount of threads. If I understand correctly, in summary, I either flash the PCM and / or replace some part of the ignition cylinder. Also, it will get most likely get worse as time goes on. Please let me know if my findings and next steps are not accurate. Also, if anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. Lastly, please feel free to PM me regarding any info on this that I may be missing. Thanks again.

Hi,
Try some basic stuff 1st.
1 new battery connectors
2 new battery
3 clean ignition switch with electronics cleaner
4 clean maf, tb and spark plugs (this is more a suggestion for clean running)
Then maybe a pass lock issue.
Even if it is just replace the switch.

Thank you for that. I've been meaning to replace those battery connectors anyway. Just to clarify, if I have to replace the switch, you mean the ignition switch, correct? I am reading that it requires a re-learn process and the installation doesn't look too bad to do yourself, at least an hour or two, price is around 60 bucks for the part. Am I on the right track...?!?! Thanks again.
