08 H3 key fob
It's ok to be snide... lol
My question is. What year is your Hummer H3?
I only ask, because on my 2006's I programed my own remotes, but for some reason my 2010 I can not. I never tried it on my 08. Not sure when, but they changed it somehow. Same in my Silverado. My 01 I could program myself, but my 2009 I can't. I wonder why they changed it... Money maybe? (they can make money having people take their cars to them for programming or selling OBD tools to locksmiths?
Yeah, mine is an 07. They tell themselves, and us, that it is about security and protecting us. In the end, I am sure it is so they can sell parts. Same thing with stereos in newer vehicles that are VIN specific. If someone upgrades the stereo in their new vehicle and sells the old one to a friend, the friend has to go, with the VIN of the original vehicle, and pay the dealer to reprogram it before it will work. I learned that the hard way with my now ex-wife's 2006 HHR. Had the updated 2010 HHR stereo installed and everything and it had some security message on the screen. My options were to pay the dealer $100 to make it work, or eat the $200 I paid for the upgraded stereo. I chose the latter. I'm not paying them $100 to push a few buttons.

I agree totally.
It's also like them making people use special tools for something that use to take a half inch wrench. Like brake calipers or the oil sending units... Now you have to buy a $30 special socket to take off a sending unit. I can understand the security part of it when it comes to a special sockets for your wheels and tires... But my stereo? Come on please It's all about the benjamins!!! lolol
