08 Drive Train Click
We have an '08 H3 with 80K miles. Earlier this summer it developed an intermittent drive train click. We'd initially take it to a mechanic and it wouldn't do it so there was no determination what it was. Last week it was doing it on a regular basis. We took it to Car Max where we bought it and had a warranty. The warranty ran out at 75k but we had them check it out anyway. They said one of the rear u-joints was bad but they weren't sure that would fix the clicking. They thought that if that didn't fix the problem that it could be the motor on the transfer case. So. They replaced the fluid in the front differential and transfer case and replaced the rear drive shaft because they couldn't find new u-joints to fit the old driveshaft. We picked it up yesterday and the clicking was gone. Later in the afternoon it came back just like we had done nothing at all. This morning I drove it forwards, backwards, all drive settings, in and out of gear. Still doing it. As you go faster the faster it clicks. Could it be the chain in the transfer case or what?
