Default '06 Sidesteps don't fit '08 Alpha

Just for your information, if you're thinking about using your old H3 sidestep bars on the new Alpha, they won't fit... The brake line for the V8 has been re-routed right over where the old step mounts used to be.

So be prepared to buy new ones. The chrome ones are about $700 from the dealer so you may wanna figure that into the financing before signng on the dotted line.

be cheaper to just re-locate the brake lines....I guess gm was tired of losing money on add-ons from people trading in their 06-07's on alphas and just switching everything over.

I guess the side steps mount differently than the GM rock rails. I did just what Mike said - traded in my '07 Adventure for an Alpha and switched everything over including the sliders - simple bolt-off and bolt-on deal.

Hummer Dad , FYI There is a right and a left, one has a notch for the brake line the other doesnt. I have steps from a 2007 on my Alpha and I thought I was screwed at first too! Hope this works for you.

There has been no change to the side steps - all OEM steps fit all model year H3s.

I stand corrected! While strolling accross our showroom, I saw some new steps on one of our 08s - they are very similar looking, except for the bracket holding the tubular part has a larger, more substantial looking cover. I haven't investigated whether the fit is different - but I'm pretty sure we have lots of 08 models with some older model steps. And, there IS a new part number on the steps.

P.S. - Thank's hill!
