New/Old H3 guy
Hey there. Returning enthusiast. Loved H3's since they came out. I had a brand new 2008 back in the day and needed a pick up in 2010, so unfortunately traded it off at a loss at the time. What with the uncertainty of GM killing Hummer, I thought it best. Poor decision, because I have wanted one ever since.
Just got myself a 2006 the other day. Nice shape high milage unit. Luxury model, Bright yellow. no sunroof, runs really good, paint and body excellent. Interior great except some wear on the side of the drivers seat.
Fixing common H3 problems right now.
Evap. code (P0454, P0449) fixed. replaced the purge solenoid and the canister solenoids.
TPS monitor on, ordered new wheels and tires anyway, so got new sensors to put in to fix that.
Oil light coming on sometimes, although pressure is good and oil level full. replaced the oil pressure sensor that was soaked in oil from leaking, de-oiled the electrical plug, it looks good.
Had a cracked rad and a very loud p/strg pump when i got it, but it came with those parts so put them in and all good with those. Installed new idlers ,tensioner, belt at the same time since I was in there as well as a new thermostat as it was running too cool.
oil and filter change
Cleaned the throttle body yesterday, it was full of varnish and some sticky brown tar like substance in the bottom of it.
Changing plugs today
The pcv hose on the air plenum was a mess. It was cracked heavily and gooey, so got one of those coming this afternoon.
taking off the evap hose from the throttle body the white clip broke (brittle) so ordered some of those today. Dorman makes them in a 2-pack.
cleaned up the engine compartment. looks really good now.
Got a fix for windshield A pillar holdings I will post in a bit that people may be interested in.
More to do, but she will be sorted soon....
