Firstly I would like to start with a huge THANK YOU to the folks on the H3 Hummer Lineup forum. I have been a lurker for the last 2 months and found tons of information to help me work through issues on my new to me 2008 H3X.
This H3 belonged to my father and was purchased back in 2016 at a "Hellofa" deal with electrical issues. He had one of his heavy equipment mechanics crawl around it trying to find the reason as to why it would randomly shut down after the wipers came on during trips of over 20 miles. With Eric Schwartz's archive of tech data I was able to put my background of working on AC-130U electrical systems to good use and find the issues with the help of some older threads on BCM issues and some corrosion that was caused by a previously leaking sunroof.
My daily driver is a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado LT Crew Cab and I intend to use the H3 for keeping miles off of the truck and enjoying the 16 mile drive to work in Houston, TX traffic a little bit more, as well as taking it to the beach and hopefully hitting a few adventure parks in the surrounding areas. I have been a member on several other forums and have owned way too many vehicles for the short time I have been on this earth. Really enjoying working on this thing so far and excited for all of the good times with it ahead!
Just added new wheels and tires as the OEM Chrome wheels were showing their age and time sitting in the salty air down on Crystal Beach. RockTrix RT107 17x9 -12 offset wheels(Amazon) wrapped in Goodyear Territory M/T 315/70r17s.
Welcome, SparkChaser and that IS a nice H3X you have! Enjoyed your background story, especially the part about the code being fixed. Very nice looking wheels and tires. We live northwest of your location...up near Waco and we also have an H3X...2007 Yellow Hummer with just over 86,000 miles. Getting ready to install a Navigation unit. Hope we can meet some day.

Thank you Golden Hurricane! It was a lot of fun cleaning grounds and connectors trying to get the Serial Data communication going again no doubt!
I just put in a Sony XAV-AX1000 which has wired Apple Carplay(used CRUX SOCGM-17C) and it has been working great so far. Screen could be a little brighter for our sunny Texas days with polarized glasses on .
I am about to take on the challenge of installing a remote start/keyless entry/alarm system here shortly. I am mostly getting tired of putting the only key for this thing in the door to open it and unlock the doors and go around and put my 2 year old son in his seat. This is technically "His" Hummer lol
Hope to meet someday as well! We love Waco. My wife is an aggie so we head north west quite often.
SparkChaser,
Interesting that you have installed a Sony NAV unit! I am strongly considering a SONY XAV-AX 6000. Only negative is that unit has NO DISC PLAYER! Will also install a back up camera (probably Pioneer NDBC8 unit because it can "see in the dark" very well.)
I may be talking with you about your experience with this modification.
Looking forward to meeting you folks!

And why do you have only one key? I had that problem when we bought our H3X last October! I was afraid that I would lose my key...so, I spent $7 and had a duplicate made. I have the same issue with opening doors. Key fob only actuates the driver's door lock...oh well. Being OLD school, it doesn't bother me so much.
lots of fun times with ownership!
