The front differential carrier on my 09 H3T is in the process of biting the dust. I have to replace and I was going to upgrade with the cast carrier with an electronic locker -- and a new console switch panel of course. I have sourced the new carrier and the switch panel and our local 4WP guy says that they will install. Anything terribly exciting I should worry about or is it a pretty straightforward effort? Should I just have my current carrier rebuilt? I have attached a link to the video the dealership made regarding the issue.

"The issue"? You needed to go to the dealership to have them make a video of your destroyed front half shaft? I simple look under the front should have been all you needed. Me thinks you are being sold chit you may not need.

Start with a new ACDelco half shaft. It must make a whale of a racket and vibration trying to drive it so I suppose you may have damaged the front diff by continuing to abuse it, but that would not be for certain. Once that is properly replaced, then see what you have....

If it were me, I would buy some tools and do it myself with some help from any friend with repair knowledge. .... or you can just write the check and learn nothing except how fast cabbage flies out of your account.

Doc Olds -- Believe me, I have never had any interest in throwing dollars at this truck! I do most all of my work on this truck, I just was not hearing the noise that my wife did when she drove it for the first time in a while. I do have new ACDelco half shaft, so maybe I can get my Coastie son to help me install them before he departs here in a bit. Thanks, JP.
