Hummer H3T The popular H3 gets the added capabilties of a small pick-up, with the look and performance of the original H3.

Searching for a H3T would you purchase on mileage and service records or features?

Search bookface(facebook) marketplace, autotrader.com, cars.com etc. You will notice they have different H3Ts on their sites.

Good luck and post if you have any questions or PM me if you want me to look over a listing you don't want to post here.

Thanks - I took the local H3T out for a test drive today. It was good to get a feel for the truck. Seat position was nice and liked the view over the hood along with the size of the interior. I can imagine how nice a leather interior would be with power seats. I really liked the size of the bed and how it was setup as compared to a 2004 Tacoma double cab I owned.

The truck looked well maintained though you could tell underneath there was some clean up of rust on the frame in visible areas but not further underneath or in the more complex places to reach. This is typical here in the midwest to attempt to clean up the easily visible rust, but if anyone looks underneath you can see the typical midwestern rust with all the salt we use. Some rust bubbling on the front bumper too.

It was also clear that after about 85K on the truck the suspension need some freshening especially as one shock in the front looked as if it had a past leak that was cleaned up. The truck also felt very "solid" and just a stout feel overall.

The only annoyance in my short drive was the placement of the emergency brake catching on my left leg -- perhaps more adjustment of the time of the seat would help to reposition.

I had low expectations for the 3.7 but the truck shifted well and got up to speed nicely, though I can see that on the low end it wasn't as strong as my FJ Cruiser with the 4.0. I can imagine what a 5.3 should feel like.

Search continues...and thank you.

Did you offer $17k? I've done a lot of research looking for an H3T Alpha under 100k miles nationwide and it's going to take a minimum of $25k to get a clean 1. Better off with that I5 and swap engine.

25k is a lot for a used truck when you can get a 2020 clone for 33 https://www.jeep.com/gladiator.html

No I did not offer them $17K since the sales person was talking up "how many" people were interested and how "rare" this truck was. Better if they call me as a follow-up. I wouldn't consider a swap on a hummer to a 5.3 just too many things to go wrong, plus if I was looking for a project it would be of a different kind.

I will wait it out and see what comes up. If I needed a project I have seen a 5 speed manual base with about 200K to the north of me that could be a project but I'd rather pay a bit more for a more optioned out 3.7 I5 or an alpha.

Wouldn't hurt to make an offer, and by no means was I suggesting to replace the engine, as my LLR is plenty powerful for me. The point, is you can swap the engine with a new crate motor, sell the current engine, at a less cost than spending $25k for a low mileage alpha. Options can also be added, since there are many salvaged today, and as time goes by there will be many more, so there will always be used parts available.
