Question My T isn't cranking

I read last week-ish someones 3 wasn't cranking and to check all the electrical and update the battery terminals. I'll order that tomorrow and start checking but here's my added issue in case someone has had the exact same thing.

A week ago I went to start the hummer and it didn't start--no crank at all but everything lit up fine. Waited about 10 seconds and tried again and it started. Problem didn't show itself again until today, Went to start it after driving to Home Depot and nothing. Waited a few seconds, everything lit back up (eventually) tried to crank nothing. Waited 15 more seconds nothing. Waited 30 ish more seconds and it started no problem. I think I heard one click maybe during the ordeal.

The only other thing I can add is it seems to be idling very low like it wants to stall but it never does. This idle issue has been happening for months. I've changed the spark plugs but that didn't remedy that.

Could this all be tied into one issue? Any ideas?
Thanks!

I get a forbidden page when I follow that link. Were you getting low idling too?

Mine was my passlock. The low idle is often a dirty throttle body and maf.

The module as a whole is:

D1403G (15795322) AntiTheft Ignition housing w/ module.

The little black plastic PassLock unit screwed to end:

Has nothing to do with the no crank, but it does for your idle. Read this......... Acts like it wants to stall/rough idle -No CEL -What To Do:

You have an OLD vehicle, you should have a can of CRC Electronic Cleaner in your tool kit. Use it to CLEAN your ignition switch connections! Pics courtesy of hummerz.

thanks for this. The black end piece looks to be held on by a screw or two. Does it just plug in and out? If so that seems like an easy remedy.

thanks. I’ll clean it first and see if that remedies the issue.

also today the Chime and audio went away. Turned off the car opened the door turned it back on and still didn’t work. After two or three attempts it came back on. Is this a symptom as well of the failing passlock?

I cleaned the tb and gave it a spin. Felt alright—hard to tell in such a short drive. It was filthy though.

I didn’t clean the MAF. Seemed clean so I didn’t bother spray it. Should I still? I lost one of the screws though. Does anyone know the size so I can replace them both (old and Rusty).

I’ll try get the ignition contact cleaned tomorrow after some research.

thanks for the support!

edit:

maf screw info from earlier post by doc:

So, here it is....................... M3 x 10MM, pitch is close to maybe 1.12. In plastic the pitch is not critical. So you M3.5 is all good, plenty of bite, no gouging.

not so far. The electrical issue isn’t permanent so if I swap fuses I won’t be able to tell if anything changes because currently everything is working as it should (I think). Let me know what to look for when swapped

either way I’ll swap it shortly and report back.
