Default H3T Tire Sizes

I own a 2009 H3T with 16" factory rims, 285/75R16 Bridgestones. I need to replace the tires and plan on replacing the factory rims also. Aside from adjusting the torsion bars to level the vehicle, it is not lifted. What size tire is the maximum I can purchase to go with 16" rims?

Welcome to HF. I MOVED this thread from the New Member Section which is strictly for intros.... where it says stuck to the top: THIS SECTION IS NOT FOR TECH QUESTIONS!!

Please run your question through the search feature, it has been asked several bazillion times. The H3 & H3T both can run 35s w/o modification (do not even need a T Bar adjustment), and can go to 37s with a 1" body lift and T Bar adjustment. There are also a bunch of threads on what size rimz can I use, back space & offset, blah blah stuff.

If you have an I5, the 35s are going to tap a bunch of power, 37s will have snails and slugs passing you on the express way ramps.

Good luck in your search & congrats on the T.

Hello fellow T owner!

100% agree with what DOC said above.
All depends on what you are going to do with the rig too.

I didn't notice the reference about Tech questions, thanks for the information and moving my post. I'm the original owner of the H3T and lived in the North East and have been running Bridgestone Revo's to combat the snow. Moved South and now need to combat the sand on occasion, but don't need the Revo's. Was looking to increase the size for appearance without vehicle modification. And "yes" I have the I5 so I don't want to loose power. Will more than likely purchase factory H3T 16" rims to maintain the Hummer appearance that's why I want to maintain the 16" tire.

I attempted to order a 315/75R16 and the vendor replied "Important Note: A suspension lift of at least 3" inches is required to clear this tire size" is this accurate?

You did read what we posted above, correct? "The H3 & H3T both can run 35s w/o modification..."

The vendor would be full of chit, and has no experience with your vehicle. GM designed the H3 to accommodate 35s on purpose, no accident. They were not available from the factory because of the fleet MPG hit.

The worst case scenario is your front tires may rub the sway bar when at full lock turning at slow speed. You know how sharp these trucks can turn to navigate obstacles, just be aware of that when parking.

Sand is dealt with by lowering tire PSI, 35s in and of themselves will not help much, but the extra inch width won't hurt.

My 07 Adventure on stock Bridgestone 33s w/ 11 PSI in the rears, 12 PSI in the fronts, turn off the Traction Control in Hi Lock and it could go anywhere with a bit of momentum.

Here is CB Photos H3T on 35 Coopers.

thanks for the info, and yes, I did read the reference about 35's, but also read several threads about needing to use "spacers" so I thought I would drop down a size to avoid having to use any means of modification. you don't mention spacers in your response. I would prefer to go the max tire size and as far as sand goes, I haven't had an issue with the vehicle and the Bridgestones, and I was looking at the Cooper Discoverer as a replacement as I don't go off-road as you.

I run 305 Mickey Thompson MTZs, same width as the 35s, but still 33" diameter. My truck has been adjusted to 23.4-23.5" for 10 years on stock adventure shocks, no issues, no spacers, no longer bump stops.

You do not need any spacers, no modifications at all. The spacer chat was when people though they could lift the front as high as 24" + fender lip to hub center, then
a 1/2" - 1" spacer may have been relevant. After years of guys wheeling these things, we figured out that 23.5" is the max front T Bar adjusted height before you start tearing stuff up.

The Cooper Discover is a great tire and would be an excellent choice.

When I find my Alpha it will eventually have 315s. Literally 1000s of people are running their H3s & H3Ts on 35s, not an issue.

NO need for any spacers with the OEM 16" wheel.

A 305/70R16 is probably what you are looking for. About 33" tall and 11.5" wide on the OEM 16" H3/H3T wheels.
Coopers are good tires and MADS IN THE USA!

While reviewing rims I am noticing different offset sizes. I am seeing 0mm and 10mm offset being offered for 16 x 8 and 0mm for 16 x 9. Is there a correct offset size, or will either fit?
