Wheel Lock Key
Looking to get a new spare tire for the H3 i just bought and noticed that it has a wheel lock on it but never got a key when i bought the car? Any tips to work around this, since i know the shop will charge me an arm and a leg to take it off and then replace? Thanks
You should have a jack packaged nicely in the storage area in your rear door. There is a tiny compartment on the top of the jack holder that closes with velcro. Check there for the key. We currently own our third H3 and all three have had the key located with the jack.
Hope this helps!!
NOTE: You could go to a tire shop like Discount Tire, etc. They usually have all kinds of keys.

This is all found with my key in the glove box..

MCGARD
3875 CALIFORNIA ROAD
ORCHARD PARK NY 14127-4198
KEY: US $14.99 / CN $19.99
WHEEL LOCK: US $10.49 / CN $14.99
It looks like there is a lock I.D. Card associated with MY lock, so you might have to look on the lock and see if it has any visable serial numbers to give the MCGARD company to get the correct key.
Then again, your wheel lock might be a completely different company..

ive been here since july 09, 3 yrs ,never heard of a stolen spare, which surprises me!
being a worrier, i put a nice plastic covered cable lock around mine, barely noticeable.
i guess i didnt trust the locks!
nice NEW tire and unused wheel, lucky us.

Go to Harbor freight (any really cheap tool store), buy a cheap socket that will need to be hammered on to fit the locks outer surface, bang it on with a hammer, turn counter clockwise with a ratchet.
Works every time!

Found this post in a search and sure enough, found it right where you said it would be.
FWIW: I moved it to the glove box, where logic tells me it belongs.

I just ran into this today when I noticed whoever hung the spare didn't bother to hang it straight (so the logo reads right!) and I couldn't for the life of me think how to get it off.
