Default What Sound is this?

Does anyone know what’s causing this sound? It happens at low speeds. Kinda embarrassing when leaving parking lots. After letting valet park my truck while visiting the hospital a few times they clearly drove it like it was a rental and surprisingly the sound comes infrequently now but it still happens.

So far removed the side steps—they were rusted anyway. Tightened the skid plates albeit one hole is damaged so it can’t be bolted but it’s secure and I don’t think it’s coming from there—could be though.

Anyone hear this before?
Of course when I went to record it it didn’t want to show up but I got it good enough.

Thanks. Hopefully that solves it. I ordered some BOSCH BE1120H.

Did you check the brake pads? Sometimes the wear indicator gets repositioned via a rock or debris. Btw, you ordered REAR brake pads, is that where the sound is coming from? Just pull the wheels and also inspect the backing plates!

I ordered both rear and front. I was able to view the rear pads without pulling the wheel and saw decent pad left. I couldn't see the pad for the front. Possibly no pad or just couldn't get the right angle and light on them. But these were the brakes that I got with the truck a couple years ago. Stopping has been pretty poor to be honest so changing them out won't hurt.

My from factory 07 h3 makes a grinding rattle sound when it needs brakes. I know that warning sign well. While this isn't the same sound, and happens intermittently, but heck maybe it has overseas brake pad? Who knows. Pads should arrive Wed.

PS. The backing plate. That might be it though. Will check when the pads come.

Wear indicators are on the inboard pad faster to wear.

Brakes came in the mail yesterday. Today I pulled the wheel to replace them but unfortunately/fortunately the brakes were fine. Kept me from having to work in the cold but both front and rear brakes were barely worn.
Everything about the brakes seemed to be in order.

I’m wondering if the sound has something to do with the muffler—something may have rusted away

You're sure it's not the wear indicator on a brake pad? As Hummerz suggested, sometimes one or more may get "shifted" out of place, either by a rock or something, or even by someone who installed the pads previously and bent one. Another possibility: it sounds like a "metal sliding" sound. Look for shiny spots on the driveshafts or CV axles.
