Default What is this?

After changing the hood lifts I noticed this thing strapped to the hood. Just wondering if anyone knows what it could be? My last H3 didn't have one.

is this a light?

It looks like either a light or a mercury switch to power a light. Check it with a multi-meter to see if there's voltage going to it. If there is, it's probable a light that's burned out or possibly the fuse that feeds it blew. It's definitely aftermarket.

Aftermarket alarm switch so it can sound the alarm when the hood gets opened.

This makes sense because I just added an auto start to it. I didn't notice it before.
