Tuning an Alpha
Ok now I have an Alpha. Please give me the scoop on the best things to tweak on these trucks with a tuner and which tuners you think are the best.
I do need to adjust the speedo since it has oversized tires on it, but I think they all do that. I figure I'll probably go with a "91 octane" tune and run it on 93 for safety. Since it's got a mechanical fan, there's no fun to be had there.

Tainter, please elaborate now that I have my H3T.
2008-2009 LH8 V8 5.3L HUMMER H3/H3T Alpha tuner (F5 GM FLASHPAQ - 2845)
Had one when we had our 08 Alphas and loved it.
Used the tow tune mostly, added great power, shift points and held gears longer.
If you want "insano" broken parts power tune use the higher octane performance tunes. It would make the front wheels HOP around turns form the power.
Never saw a use for that much power.

Thanks Tainter. You mentioned there were parameters that wouldn't make sense until I had a Hummer. What are some of those?
I'm a little confused by your comments about the tuner making so much more power. Being naturally aspirated, a tuner's only going to give maybe 15hp/tq, but your description sounded like it did much more. The comment "never saw a use for that much power" also threw me , especially since these trucks are so terribly underpowered.....and there's ALWAYS a reason for more power, regardless how much you have...haha.
I had a Diablo tuner several years back for a SRT8 Charger and it was very useful because I could adjust fan timing to match the cooler thermostat used to help avoid spark knock with a higher octane tune. Shift firmness and timing was also nice to be able to adjust. Does the Flaspaq allow for tweaking all those details or does it just give you performance levels to choose from?

Might want to consider.... everything forward of the back of the front doors on a T is the same as any H3. There is a bunch more activity in the H3 section. There are a bunch of tuner info threads in the H3 section that just need a searchin out.
This section is really for T specific questions/issues.... like from the front of the back doors back to the bumper.
Banks makes a tuner as well, offers options like tow, 87 sport, 91 Octane performance, tires size, gear ratio, shift settings..... Take out some traction control, turn the wheels and stick it = tire hop.
