I fixed one problem now I have a new one I have a 2008 h3 basic with about 15000 miles. I was driving everything was fine, I stopped and when I took off everything seemed fine then the trans acted like it was in neutral I pulled over and tried putting it in all the gears nothing I shut it off till the count of 10 then it would move a short distance the do it all over again. Each time if I shut it off for a few seconds it will move a little then stop. I have checked all the fuses replaced the 4 wheel drive switch replaced the trans encoder I am lost any help would be very appreciative thank you

 

Sorry to say, but it sounds as if it is transmission rebuild time.
PS, I am assuming 150,000 miles not 15,000.

You did pretty well, I think I had one AT make it that far before rebuild in an old 2WD shop truck.

Pull the dipstick, LOOK at the fluid wiped off the dipstick on a white cloth, it is like a book and tells you all the story you need to know. Brown burnt smelling coffee is BAD.

When was the last time the Trans Fluid and Filter were changed? How often and at what intervals was that basic service done before since new? Has the vehicle been used to tow?

I look at the situation as the opportunity to have the Trans rebuilt with some choice aftermarket parts, like a beast Sunshell, Sonnax smart tech input housing with Borg Warner 29 element dual cage sprag; Sonnax 2nd & 4th gear super hold servos; new GM reverse input drum and Sonnax extra wide Kevlar band.... Make it stronger than when it was new!
