Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
I know parts are getting hard to find for some things, transfer case included. But just in case someone has a source...
I'm looking for the "chain snubber" for the transfer case chain. Got into mine this weekend and found one bolt out and the other loose. Bolt holes on the "snubber" now look like a banana..
The part looks like a large, extruded aluminum "T" with plastic adhered to the top for the chain to rest on.
Doesn't appear I'm the first with this problem, and actually lucky I caught it now, and not when it completely let go.
If they aren't available, I'll need to modify what I have.
On a side note, my 2007 transfer case, which has the post "fill level" update (i.e. I don't need to add additional fluid in the speed sensor hole), has an aluminum mode fork. Would this have come from the factory as aluminum in this year, or does this mean someone was already in this transfer case? This fork was worn down enough that it wasn't locking up, so it's been in there a while...
There is no known date that the aluminum T Case shift forks went in to replace the plastic. It's a crap shoot and likely someone else replaced the plastic for you.
Had a snubber come loose and destroy a Tcase. I have removed them from all I have rebuilt. If you hear the chain slap the Tcase, it's time to replace the chain.
