Default Trailer tail lights

I have an 08 H3. The trailer tail light contact is dead at the rear plug. The turn signals and brake lights work just fine.
I have checked and replaced the fuse under the hood. There is power at the fuse. But nothing at the rear plug. I had this problem once before and the fuse was blown. But not this time.

Is there another fuse somewhere that I am missing?
Any other suggestions?

There isn't another inline fuse that I am aware of. Forgive me for asking this simple question but have you looked at the wiring behind the plug to see if you have any obvious breaks or cuts? It's so straight forward that if the fuse is ok, there is a physical problem somewhere in the line. Please post the fix when you find out what it is though...you have me curious. Best of luck.

The wire harness for the trailer connections runs above the bumper just below the rear door. It is known to rub thru the insulation and cause a short (maybe why your fuse blew before).
Work backwards from the hitch to troubleshoot this.
Trace back along that harness, starting at the back of the hitch plug and see if you find worn spots or possibly a broken wire.

It was my first thought that the plug or wires coming to it had gone bad. I do a lot of off roading. Like playing in the water. I didn't find any problems there. I spray the plug with WD40 every so often. Hoping to keep it corroding.
I can see a connector fastened to the bottom of the body. Forward of the plug. However I can't get to it to inspect it. It appears to me that I will have to take the rear bumper off to get to it.
Hoping that is the bad spot. Not looking forward to that project. But that will have to wait for a warmer dryer season.

Do you have a factory hitch or an aftermarket one?
Is it a 7 pin connector or a flat 4 pin?

There should be no reason to remove the bumper to get at everything if it's a factory hitch.

Could you post a picture?

Cool What a PITA!!

After noticing that my trailer lights weren't working properly and reading this thread I checked my harness and found it worn through the insulation on 4 wires with 3 of the wires totally destroyed about 1/2" above the connector plug. Took some creative work to come up with a fix. problem is I don't know for how long. I may ultimately have to replace the entire connector. What a **** poor design!!!

Anybody know the part number for the connector?
Either that or I cut both connector ends off and straight wire it.

Are you talking about regular old WD40?

That crap is not an electrical cleaner, primarily it is a solvent that leaves a light oil residue that degrades electrical contacts, if that is what you have been using, stop. They make newer and better products, WD40 ain't one of them.... it might have been something Grandad used because there wasn't other better stuff available.

X3 what Bunger said.
