Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
Got my 2007 H3 out of storage (since June) and it started, but wouldn’t keep going. Dealership put in new battery, cable terminals and fuse box. Now runs pretty well but the traction control light stays on. They want to replace the electronic brake control module for $1,200.00 parts and labor which I declined.
Can anyone tell me where the electronic brake module resides and whether this is a reasonable price or could it be a DIY job.
Stay away from dealerships, just a bad idea for out of warranty work on anything. Storage should be done with a Battery Tender Plus or the like hooked up.
It sits right next to the Brake Fluid Reservoir (with the white clip thingy on it below). Scan it and post the code(s).
From my experience, part stores will not be able to read anything except ECM codes. You'll need BCM codes for anything traction related. I ended up buying one to get my codes. It was recommended on this forum.

True. Anybody that does some/most of their own wrenching and drives a vehicle 10+ years old should have a scanner. Saves time and money.

The code recovered was C0268 with a comment, “Pump Motor Circuit Shorted” and a suggestion to Reset Engine Control Module. The ECM is new on the vehicle.
