Could it be just an "aftermarket/replacement" switch? Maybe his switch went bad and just replaced it with an aftermarket one?
I was just thinking that if that is in fact what he did, maybe if I just replace it with a GM one.

Thanks for all your help. I was just told by my godson that his Dad did by direct from the dealership but it was a stock model and wanted a sunroof so the Stealership put one in for him. You would think they would have put in a OEM one!!!! Bastards! Thanks again.

Dealers don't cut/install NEW sunroofs! Yet, they would replace an OEM with OEM sunroof. BTW, I've worked at many auto repair shops since the '80's and know many that work at dealerships, all the same: FIXED glass & AM sunroofs were subcontracted+$markup to the customer!
I've always used:
Finish Line (If a customer wanted to add a sunroof)
Safelite(If a windshield, rear window, or any FIXED side windows that needed replaced)

His wife insisted that he had the dealership install the sunroof before he picked it up. You probably right that they wouldn’t “cut” a new sunroof but would the car come with a fixed sunroof and he wanted one that opens so they installed that aftermarket one ? She said he was pissed that he had to wait so long to pick it up.

The wait would be due to the subcontracted schedule! I can't help any further without seeing your SERVICE PARTS IDENTIFICATION sticker. Post a pic
