UPDATE: Was told this morning by both, my friend and local GM/Hummer service rep & the Hummer service tech (who owns an H3) that as of last week, GM will no longer cover/pay for H3 front crossmember bushing replacements under the GM drivetrain warranty.

Looks like having to buy a new GM OEM crossmember for about $475 and any aftermarket & DIY fixes out there, are the only options available now. Can someone else try to verify this. This is bad news for those who still have warranty coverage on their rigs! Haven't independently confirmed this but I have no reason to doubt what I was told.

 

Our H3 Alpha hasn't been wheeled in a long time. If they didn't replace it for me they would have a major issue on their hands. I have another 30K of warranty coverage and they covered it once before.

 

The power train warranty (thanks JGBB) states:

Drive Systems Coverage includes:
All internally lubricated parts, final drive housings, axle shafts and bearings, constant velocity joints, propeller shafts, universal joints, wheel bearings, front and rear hub bearings, locking hubs, mounts, supports, seals, gaskets as well as any electrical components internal to the drive axle. Also covered are any actuators directly connected to the drive axle (i.e.: front differential actuator, etc) as well as any drive system control module and/or module programming.

We'll have to wait and see what others find out and report when they take their rigs in to the dealer to replace their crossmember bushing. If anyone can confirm or dispel what I was told, please let us know.

 

Paid Dwaine at Preferred Chassis July 13. He sent the crossmember Fedex ground to New York. Got my crossmember today (July 21st) at 12:30pm. Brought it to my local mechanic and he had it installed in 30 mins. Charged me $50.00. Drove away and was on the trail at 1:30 pm. No more clunking!! Boxed up the old one (to get back my $150.00 Core Charge) slapped on the pre-paid FedEx label and will drop off at FedEx Monday. EASY

does anyone have the part numbers for the bushings? im a tech so id do it myself any help would be great

 

I would also be interested in a fix for this . I have two hummers that both go clunk when put in reverse and when I let off gas . Mechanic showed me it was this bushing . Is there anyone that can or will ship just a bushing ? thanks JIM

 

Contact these guys. They will replace all 3 of the diff bushings!
