Stock Suspension (Off-Road Pack) 33" to 35" Tire Upgrade
2006 Hummer H3
Been seeing that 35"s are a popular upgrade as seems to be the limit Hummers can move up to without having to get a lift. I have a stock suspension Hummer w/ Off-Road Pack on TOYO Open Countr A/T LT285/75R16 and I wanna move up to Firestone Destination X/T LT35/12.5R20. I'm worried about rubbing which seems to be the most common problem Hummers seem to have cause mine sags a bit from the front end, which I still don't even know the source of cause, but would I be all clear if I took care of that and added spacers?

ALL H3s can run 35" tires on stock OEM Rims without any modifications (they were designed anticipating off roaders would add 35s). Do not be paranoid about rubbing. The only time you may get a rub is when turning to full lock your tire may rub the sway bar. Solution, don't turn so sharp.
Adjust your T Bars to get rid of your "sag." I have wheeled with guys who had 35s on stock rims and no front leveling, zero issue.

No doubt the 35's would give you additional off road clearance, but, what else will change, check out this link below. It contains a good deal of information both pro and con.

Personally I am happy with the tire height I am running, but then again I am not doing any rock crawling.. Just soft dirt and sand on occasion..
Just something for you to think about.. But you have no need to put spacers in, just crank the bars that will give you your lift
Cheers..
Once you adjust the T Bars (which does not affect ride) you will need to get an alignment. You also cannot say add another 2" because we do not know the current level of the front of the OP's H3. The max is 23.4" front fender lip to hub center before your geometry gets out of whack and ride/control go out the window. So he might be able to add 2" or so. You can adjust as little or as much as you want, just keep in mind the max above.

My other Hummer it DID effect the ride... It made a pretty big difference.. I measured the front and rear and brought the front up 2.3 inches to match with the rear.. now mind you this is back in 2008 on a 2006 H3.. ymmv but t'was my own experience and since I have did Torsion bar lefts on 5 others.. with varying results..
But have not really messed with a H3 in a few years and this is my first one since 2010 when I got rid of my old one at the end of the 4 year lease..
I beg to differ..

Ride height does not affect ride comfort. Shocks control ride comfort and control. When you lift or lower the suspension, you lose the "sweet spot" from the shocks. If you raise the suspension, get longer shocks and vise versa when you lower the suspension, or you will end up with a "harsh ride".

Raising the height does make it a harsher ride.. but noted on the longer shocks, i saw something on that awhile ago, your post clears it up.. For me, i am digging where my current hummer is.. End of Sept I am doing the upper control arms and putting new shocks on it.. Not sure of brand yet as I am just going through what is out there, currently my 2007 H3 has the original shocks.. Since I am going to do the arms, the shocks are right there and kinda in the way anyway..
Cheers..
The topic regarding T Bar levelling and ride impact was beat to death years ago, like 8-10 years ago. Here is why it does NOT "stiffen" ride until you go too far. The T Bars are the front springs, the spring rate is always exactly the same (fixed), all adjusting does is turn the T Bar to a different position, it is not like winding a rubber band. Made that way on purpose by GM, it is not some fluke by coincidence. This was an intentional design to the H3 front suspension to allow off roaders to use 35s and level the front from the factory delivered raked position used to meet fleet fuel MPG and traffic safety crash bumper height requirements. Did not effect the ride in my 07 or 09 and IMHO actually improved it by getting off the Bump Stops.
That is not to say you can keep turning the T Bars to 24" and beyond without adversely affecting geometry. Once the geometry is passed the correct max, you create all kinds of problems.... which are another topic.
Back to the original topic, 32s, 33s, 34s, 35s all fit H3s without modifications.
