Can anyone help with determining the correct level for the power assist fluid? The dipstick goes into a slot below the cap and seems to me that the cross hatched area on the dipstick is much lower than that.
"How to Check Power Steering Fluid
1. Turn the key off and let the engine compartment cool down.
2. Wipe the cap and the top of the reservoir clean.
3. Unscrew the cap and wipe the dipstick with a clean rag.
4. Replace the cap and completely tighten it.
5. Then remove the cap again and look at the fluid level on the dipstick.
The level should be between the ADD and FULL marks. If necessary, add only enough fluid to bring the level up to the proper range."
The range between add and full is the cross hatched area.
Anyhoo, checked the steering fluid this morning after the H3 has been standing for a week and it was a little over maximum on the dipstick. Went for a short ride and noted a grumbling from the steering. Opened the cap (after stopping the engine) and the liquid was right up to the top and full of bubbles.
