Subject: Stainless Steel Brake Lines For Hummer H3 & H3T
I've been investigating braided stainless steel brake lines to replace my rubber brake hoses on my H3T. Not so easy to find. Crown Performance has kits listed for H3, and H3 with extra length for lift kits, but not kits for H3T at this time. You might assume they are the same for both H3 and H3T, but they are not. Their H3 kits consists of 6 hoses. One for each corner, and 2 lines from chassis to rear axle. There is one subtle difference between H3 & H3T brake hoses. The brake hoses at each caliper are the same, but the chassis to rear axle hoses are different lengths. H3T lines are approx 4-5 inches longer than H3, as it came from the factory.
I called Crown directly to confirm a few details. In additional, I also wanted longer brake lines for a 4 inch lift kit. So, in summary.... the front caliper brake lines get 4 inches longer, and the 2 lines from chassis to rear axle get longer as well, but the rear caliper lines do not need to get longer - their relationship between mounting points does not change with a lift kit. Are you with me so far?
The good news is, during my phone call with Crown, they are aware of the H3T chassis to axle lines being longer. They also said that their longer length kits do not extend the rear caliper lines, only the front caliper lines and chassis to axle lines get longer. They can make the correct length braided stainless steel lines for H3T, but you may have to call them (unless they update their website below to include H3T specific kits). I'll report back when I receive them.
