When running between 45 and 65 my H3 shifts back and forth from OD. I’ve been told I need a new transmission. It doesn’t seem to be nearly as bad when the cruise control is on. Any ideas?

 

Year, miles and model H3 would be helpful. Who be the people/person that told you a new transmission is needed?

If it is an I5, probably normal. The 4L60E is supposed to go into lockup at about 45 under low load. It will unlock when load or throttle demand is increased sufficiently that the PCM (2006 & 7s) or TCM (2008+) commands it.

How are engine RPM? Is the engine rpm stable?
