Default Shadow Green Metallic H3 Build Thread

Hello All,

Proud to be a member of the forum here. I've always liked the look of an H3, and while I am in the middle of building a 2017 EcoRaptor, I decided this would make a great daily driver/winter vehicle until it's done.

I'm no newcomer to building modified vehicles. I think I can do something unique with this one, I love the Shadow Green Metallic & color matched interior. Here are some of my previous builds -

Lifted Avalanche LTZ:

625rwhp CTS-V Coupe:

A 573HP Supercharged STS-V:

A 584HP BMW M6:

My last salvage build was this custom turbo GT86 FR-S:

Just for ****s and giggles, my Sport Trac from way back in the day:

So here is the H3:

First thing I did when I got it, was clean and replace the sunroof drains, then have a new body control module programmed, new keys, fobs, and replaced the ignition housing.

After that, came the fun stuff:

Complete amsoil flush of all fluids, using seafoam and amsoil flush products including:
New Oil & Filter
Full Transmission Flush w/ filter & Gasket
Coolant Flush
Front Diff Flush
Rear Diff Flush
Transfer Case Flush
Fuel System Clean/Flush

After that, it was on to the suspension. We replaced:
Both Wheel Bearings
Both Upper Control Arms
Both Lower Ball Joints
Front brake pads and rotors w/ new hardware & ceramic pads (boy were they whooped)
Front Stabilizer Links
Front inner & outer tie rods

After that, we noticed a leak in one of the trans lines, so we replaced both.

Next comes the real fun stuff. Next updates will include:
Android 7" In Dash Quad Core Radio
Factory Speaker/Amp/Subwoofer Integration
Backup Camera
New Headlights w/ LED lighting
Custom Running Lights w/ LED Switch Back
New Fog Lights w/ LED Lighting
Custom Side Markers, smoked w/ LED lighting
Custom Fiber Optic Tail lights, tinted red
Tint windshield & front doors

After that, I will be:
Painting Grill Body Color
Front & Rear Bumpers Body Color
Accents in black
2 Way Remote Start

And after that:
3" leveling lift / shocks
1" Body Lift
35" Wheels / Tires

Mechanically, the truck is near perfect now. We have ran into one issue however. On the intake, there is a PCV dirty air hose that is not serviced separate from a new intake manifold. It is #2 in this picture:

The dealer is telling me it cannot be serviced without buying a new intake manifold assembly for around $300. Any suggestions? Is this true?

H3s do NOT have a PCV valve, it is not a separate serviceable part. From the inside of the intake manifold it is just a baffle with some small holes in it and was designed to last the life of the truck.

Why do you think it needs to be replaced?

Thanks for the reply. I can feel/hear air coming from down where #2 dirty air PCV tube is, and im positive thats where my stumble when I come to a stop or take off is coming from. If I plug it with my fingers, the RPMS dont drop.

You may have a leak, just fix the leak with a small clamp or zip tie.

When you say you plug it with your finger and there is no stumble, I'm pretty sure you are not stopping or taking off while under the hood.

Stumbles with I5s usually come from a dirty TB and/or MAF.

Check the intake manifold bolts. Some tend to come loose due to the I5s inherent vibrations.
