seeking 2006 H3 I5 front locker install help
Good afternoon, gentlemen!
I was thinking of finally making the plunge into full on beast mode with my H3 and was wondering if any of you upstanding individuals have any info on the best/most stable way I would get push-button front lockers on my 2006 H3 with the 3.5 I5 engine. I have rear lockers and am extremely happy with what I can do with it. Front lockers are next on my wish-list. I do not want to modify the stock layout TOO much. Open to ideas or suggestions. I'm still a novice in the world of the H3 and any advice would be great!
Thank you in advance

1st, it's a locker. Lockers refers to more than one locking differential. Example: you have a rear locker.
Start with a Cast Iron front differential. No common sense in putting a locker in an aluminum front diff.
Sources for Cast Iron front diffs
Most plentiful: H3 08-10 Alpha and H3T 09-10 Alpha regardless of the packages, add a locker (will need to be re-geared to 4:56 even if it comes with a locker ex.09-10 OffRoad Package) then it's plug and play except for wiring the locker to a switch or "button" as you call it inside the cabin.
Easiest if you can find one: 09-10 Adventure (I5). This will already have a locker and 4:56 gears. Plug and play except for wiring the locker to a switch or "button" as you call it inside the cabin.

Thanks again for the reply! I hate to ask a lot of questions. But would you happen to know if buying a heavy duty front Diff cover could be a way around buying a new cast iron front diff?
Or, I could just get all the parts I need from here https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/auto-p...ferential-scat
I'm having trouble checking to see if the locker comes with some of these parts or if I need to get that separately.

A diff cover will do nothing to beef up the diff itself.
X2
The aluminum differential will have deflection between the pinion gear and the ring gear when enough stress/torque is applied.
No differential cover I have ever seen for the aluminum AAM7.6 will stop that.

I'm pretty sure I know what I should be getting from this list. But can someone go through and let me know? I don't want to miss anything.

Or should I just be searching junk yards?
