Default Right tail light stays on

My right tail light stays on intermittently. It is a 2007 H3 with about 140,000 miles. Car can be running or off. If it is running, the right turn signal is faster than normal, like the bulb is burnt out. I stepped on the brake pedal and the brightness didn't change at all.

I started removing fuses. I removed all of the small/mini fuses and all of the larger fuses nothing changed. After removing 82, 83, 84, and 85 it went out, but did not go in when I put them back in. So I don't know if the fuse pull caused the light to go out or if the intermittent came back.

I also pulled both switches from the brake pedal and nothing.

Has anyone had anything like this or give me a better way to diagnose it.

Thanks for any help.

That link is close, but it is for reverse lights and the fuse blowing. My fuse doesn't blow and it is for my brake light and only the right hand side. I found one link, but it was years old and I didn't want to resurrect an old thread.

Thanks, I did get the page about the links. I will look at those links now.

I would check the trailer wire harness behind the bumper first.

Do you have a sunroof?

No sunroof. I always have trailer adapter in the trailer electrical outlet and thought it may be that, but no luck. I pulled it and the light stayed on. It was on again today while I was driving, but by the time I got home. It was working normally. This intermittent problem is a real pain to diagnose.

Thanks. What should I check on that harness.connector? There shouldn't be any normal power there it the brake is not presses or a directional on.

Thanks

look under bumper where cable crosses frame the factory clip causes the cable to rub and wear through. just lift/break the plastic clip and check the wires, repair, tape...
let the cable float free.

Happythree. Thanks. It happened again and long enough for me to find out it is fuse #84 - trailer b - so what you said sounds right. I will crawl under it later today to see what I can find out. HOpe this is that simple.

I have been trying to find out what that fuse is used for. Does anyone know? I have not been able to find it with a google search yet.

Got to the car too late and the light killed my battery. Ended up just pulling fuse #84. Still don't know I what trailer b+ is for. Hopefully someone on here knows what it is used for.

Thanks

I believe that is the positive lead that goes to trailer to charge battery on trailer (rv)

BruceS

Thanks, I searched a long time last night and could not find it. I don't pull anything that needs a battery in the trailer so I will just keep it unplugged until I have time to look for the short.

Thanks for everyone's help.
