Replacement mirror w/ backing plate


Alright, I bashed my side mirror on a tree while 4-wheeling. My mirror was crushed and I couldn't collect the pieces, because the majority of it fell in the brush. I ordered a new mirror w/ backing plate, but am obviously having issues installing it. The backing plate above doesn't, at all, look like it'll properly fit with that assembly. I'm missing something. I just don't know what it is. Any sort of help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG, GUYS?!? Thanks for taking a look.
