Replaced the original OEM Rear U-Joint at the Rear Diff in March, 2017 (classic U-Joint squeal noise) with a Moog greasable. It started to squeal and was seized in August of this summer (so, about 2 years), so it was replaced with a Napa greasable one. Now, this week, same squeal and mechanic inspected and said same U joint is bad. Replaced it with a Moog greasable.

I have a hard time thinking 3 go bad in just over 2 years, when the original OEM lasted 180k + almost 10 years. Thinking something else may be up by mechanics say all looks fine.

Any thoughts/ input?

the driveshaft might need to be balanced also check the transfercase and differential yoke where they input for lateral play. the bushes might be worn.

 

Moog and Napa u-joints are manufactured by SKF. I'm a fan of Dana spl and recommend to always replace in pairs.

 

have driveshaft balanced, replace both front and rear joints with Dana/Spicer sealed joints.
