Radiator Replacement
2008 H3 Alpha, 225,000km
Coolant was pissing out the other day, took to dealer today he said rad needs replacement it won't hold pressure. Getting this done but will take 5 days to get new rad in.
i asked about whether I should do the water pump/ thermostat same time. They said it's another $1200 to do them and he said to wait, it looked fine. It would only save an hour of labour doing it now versus on its own later if it's needed. I asked about just the thermostat and he said it's not worth doing, if he tries to get the bolts off they'll just break and then need to do the whole water pump with it.
thoughts on if I should just bite the bullet and do both jobs now or stick with tech recommendation and do just the rad replacement for now?
I drive it only about once a week now, it's a secondary vehicle. Only about 2-3000km/ year. But it's still mint condition and looks great so I want to keep it in good shape.

Get a real "tech" as whoever you are talking with about it is a lazy & doesn't know chit about what you want done. IMHO pretty rare to brake T State bolts on an LH8 or LS Pump.
These are easy jobs once the coolant is drained and the Radiator is out. My motto: If it ain't broke don't fix it." Do the radiator yourself, takes a couple hours and is not difficult.
