Thumbs down quick disconnect.. but wont reconnect! (Heater hose issues)

Short story: My H3 overheats on the way home from San Antonio. Had it towed home. I was busy with other things so let it sit for weeks. Finally checked it out and found a leaking heater hose. (Heater core to block) Plastics were melted so bought new.

Anyways, I'm trying to reconnect these plastics, the "quick disconnect" fittings. It has been over a week and I have not been able to do so. Have tried vaseline, prying on it, and using as much force as possible! They connect to a metal nipple.
What do I do??? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm guessing these are @ the firewall passenger side?
you have to cut the hose crimped casing off and then use a hose clamp to attach back together.
Did this on my H3. Took a bit but worked beautifully.

The hose I'm having trouble with is a heater hose that goes from the firewall down to the engine block (having trouble at engine block). Should be same idea though.
For the "hose crimped casing", is that referring to the fitting I pictured above? Not exactly sure.

Thanks

Yep! What you bought was the piece that is supposed to replace the old leaky connection.
you'll have to cut the the oem factory crimped piece of metal at the end of the hose as it retains the end piece that inserts into the firewall.

not my pic but gets point across

Pinching the white tabs doesn't release the connector? Maybe pinch the white tabs then twist the black part and pull off?

The problem I'm having is that it won't connect. I don't think disconnecting would be a problem, just can't connect it! Going to buy a new fitting today.

Sorry - I misread your post. This is probably obvious to you, but new hoses sometimes have caps or plugs, so make sure any packaging is removed, and that it wasn't damaged. If it takes more than moderate force you know something is wrong. Does it feel and look like the correct size? Are the core nipples still round (no damage)?

Let us know if the new part works.

Thanks. Sorry for the late reply. I finally got the new fitting and it's completely different. Since that wouldn't work and the old one wouldn't either, I just went ahead and put some 3/4 hose and some spring clamps on it yesterday. I planned on replacing the thermostat before I fill it up with water today, but that didn't happen. Of course I've got a chance for T-storms tonight and tomorrow, but if it isn't too wet out I'll try to get it done.

PS... I'm sure I'll find out anyway, but it wont leak if the hose doesn't go over the nipple, right? And also, spring clamps vs. worm clamps? Heard positives and negatives about both.
Thanks!

Did a thermostat a few days ago. Finally got that done. I did a pressure test today (with distilled water only) and got to 6PSI before I got a leak. The top heater hose was leaking, so I replaced the spring clamp for a worm clamp 😢 It held 15 psi perfectly for 30 minutes after that.

I was trying to put everything back together, but I lost an air intake cover? bolt. The box that says Vortec 3700 is an air intake cover, right? Not sure what else to call it. Anyway, I can't find the bolt. Anyone know where I can buy one? I'll probably just buy one at the store tomorrow as long as the little round ball part isn't an issue.
Thanks!
