Personally I'd rather have them siphon the gas out than have to replace an entire tank.

H3? Drill the shield first, then the tank, hope no sparks occur and then wait for it, gas sprays everywhere and cleans the shield, debris into your catch can.

Well, if you ever looked at the actual H3 skid plate there are more than a few drain holes to access the plastic tank with a drill bit and you can see the plastic tank in a ton more places.
Heck, the drain holes would even channel the fuel into whatever receptacle a fuel thief would be using.
