Default Performance mods for 2010 Alpha.

Anyone know of any efi live tunes out there for a lh9? What about intakes, just an airdoc, is there a better filter than stock? Are electric fans worth anything? Lastly, is there a complete exhaust system that removes all the cats?

Anyone know of any efi live tunes out there for a lh9? Not that I am aware of. Caused me to look for an 09 Alpha Offroad which I just found and bought this week ... just had to have Black.
If you had a local tuner, they might be able to do that, but you would have to ask them. 10s are so low production, I do not see it happening soon.

What about intakes, just an airdoc ... Yes, Volant gave up after fitment issues like 8-9 years ago.

is there a better filter than stock? Yes, a lot better. AFE Pro Dry-S (washable synthetic no oil) and K&N (washable oiled cotton gauze requiring re-oiling).

Are electric fans worth anything? Absolutely. I have been running a PCM of NC, Inc (formerly PCMforless) for almost 10 years on my 07 and it will be moved to my 09 Alpha real soon.

Lastly, is there a complete exhaust system that removes all the cats? No, it is illegal to remove cats. If you mean replace, NO. That would be a local one only custom exhaust job. There are some Cat Back kits.

Taint had a nice 10 he recently sold, he might know more about possible tunes.

A custom tune specifically for your driving style, modifications and vehicle use would be the best.
No plug and play tuners for the LH9, I know it sucks.

A solid local tuner would be better than any canned tune, and would be the best for your specific ride.
E fans are good, but if you live in a warm environment you need a really good fan as the stock H3 radiator is undersized for the V8 and you will need to overcome it with a powerful fan (the stock H3 clutch fan pulls alot of air to compensate for the undersized rad)

I agree with pretty much all the previous responses but will add these comments:
One of the best things is to get rid of the "squished" crossover pipe under the transfer case by going to a catback system such as a MAGNAFLOW. I'm pretty sure it is worth at least ten hp.. A few years ago, I had a GM engineer tell me that the exhaust system was the primary reason the ALPHAs were rated 300 hp. vs 310 for other 5.3's of the same vintage.
You might consider contacting BANKS about a program for the AutoMind # 66112. They are great folks to work with and arranged for me to download a tune (engine and tranny) that I am super happy with for my CE. I have messed with a lot of chips/tuners/programs over the years for different rigs and this one is by far the best!

Thanks for the replies, I ordered an airdoc and aem filter tonight. I'll call around for a local tuner but i wasnt trying to spend $500+ on a dyno tune when I have efi live myself. Are there any fitment issues with the magnaflow and is there that much of a sound difference to make it worth it over removing the resonator and/or muffler and welding in something different?

I have the MAGNAFLOW on both my alpha and CE. The fit is perfect and the sound is great (you can hear it but not annoying loud and no resonating) . Also, the stock resonator is a no resistance "can" and is on there for a reason. Just eliminatin it will cause a harmonic that you probably won't like and no improvement in sound. I have used header wrap on the crossovers because the full diameter is closer to the transfer case tailpiece. Whatever you do, I think that getting rid of the restrictive crossover is more important than any other exhaust modification.
Best of luck on whatever you decide to do!

Is the corsa only for the I5's? Is there a difference between that I5 and alpha exhaust systems?

Other than borla and magnaflow, are there any other full cat-backs offered in stainless?

Dont think BORLA made a CB for the ALPHA. If you decide to go with the MAGNAFLOWW, try ordering through WALMART and it will save you a few bucks.
Again, best of luck.
