Default Performance Chips?

Hi Guys,
Can anyone offer some valid feedback on performance chips?
I've found them to make quite a difference on several cars I've owned in the past while on a couple of others not too much improvement. I suppose it all depends on the car and which chip you choose.
Any feedback on this chip by Thornton Chip Tuning?:

Price seems fair and I like the plug & play design. Depending on which of the three chips they offer, they're claiming up to 60 horse power increase and 5 mpg improvement.
Appreciate any and all input.
Greg

My input would be........... BS! Chips are for kids. Do a search here & on the web for PCM Tunes. I have recommended many people to PCMofNC.com as they will boost drivability and you can tailor your tune for your truck and use, that is some bang for the buck.

You are not ever going to boost an I5 60 HP with any chip, not going to boost any 5.3L 60HP with any chip, forget that MPG improvement. If it were only so easy. Adding fuel magnets and Throttle Body Spacers is next.

My 07 had our Intake with AFE air Filter, SuperMod Port Polished Throttle Body, PCMofNC Tune & Efan conversion, MagnaFlow Cat Back, and CFS Radiator, not 60 HP/TQ, ........maybe 38-40 ish?

MY 09 Alpha has our Intake with AFE Filter, SuperMod PP TB & SFAN 4500 conversion, MagnaFlow Cat Back, TSP low lift Truck Cam & LS6 Springs and my own PCM/TCM tune and might be real close to 60 HP/TQ added.

X2 on what Doc said.

Those inline "chips" do not produce the "improvements" promised. They are a wallet drain. PCMofNC or a local tuner with HP tuners is what you really want.
Cheap is 99% of the time not worth it.
