Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
I know when Passlock is activated it takes 10 minutes, give or take, to reset the ignition. Question: If you try to start the H3 before the 10 minutes are up does the Passlock reset and start the countdown all over again or does it just continue until the time is up?
I believe if you treat it like you have to wait the full 10 minutes before a second try, that works best. I think if you try to short cut it, I am almost certain the timer starts all over again.
I looked into that long ago, but at that time GM was not providing clear full info to the public so that crooks would have no valuable inside info available to them. Maybe more info is out there now?
I think I answered my own question Doc. I've been experiencing a problem with my remote start where it trips the Passlock and I have to sit inside with the key waiting to time out. In the past mine timed out around 8 minutes. A little while ago the Passlock activated and I timed 8 minutes before trying the key....no go. I tried again at the 9 minute mark and it started. So, I guess that means that it doesn't start the countdown all over again but just continues with the original time out. I'd still like to know conclusively THAT'S the way it's supposed to work or was it just a fluke. Guess we'll never know for sure. Thanks
Doesn't matter what you do with the ignition lock cylinder position! Timeout is controlled by the module and countdown is always live. When passlock is activated the security light is flashing, wait until the light is illuminated without flashing. In the meantime, clean the ignition switch/connector contacts!
