P0017 Help
My 2006 Hummer H3 ECU is getting this code P0017 only, already did the following troubleshooting:
- Replaced Crankshaft position sensor
- Replaced Camshaft position sensors (both)
- Replaced Crankshaft position actuator solenoid
- Engine starts easily right after turning the key and even remotely with an aftermarket alarm remote control
- No engine odd rattling noise, so I discard a timing chain issue
- No rough ridding
- Checked crankshaft position actuator solenoid after a long ride if it has any metal burr and it didn't
- Cleaned all sensor connections with electrical cleaner: Crankshaft, camshafts and solenoid
- I clear this code with an OBDII scanner and appears every time I re-scan.
In a few words, engine runs normally but this engine light is making me nuts because I want to scan the ECU every chance that I have to make sure than any other error comes up, any advice?

maybe it needs a CKP Variation Learn. you need a good scanner or a tech 2 to do one under special functions. you usually have to do the relearn after replacing the crank position sensor. of it can be a bad spot on your wiring harness you could start looking in the areas nearest the exhaust and work up.
there where issues with heads in 2006 there is a TSB on it https://testing-public.carmd.com/Tsb...112215/4323686
I had intermittent DTC codes popping up, this was one of them.
There is a rubber hose comes from the valve cover on the driver side to the intake. That hose was cracked all to hell and causing air / fuel ratio to get messed up. Check that hose, its only $13 from hummer.

I'll put a scanner to check if the Camshaft Phase Solenoid DC Parameter is spiked.
Thanks!
I just replaced the head on my 2006 Hummer H3 and I too have been haunted by the P0017 code. I replaced a lot of components, starter, water pump, thermostat, timing gears & chain, etc. It is good to learn that it could be a CKP Variation Learn. I will double check the wiring harness to make sure there isn't any worn spots.
